The
first time we eat some meal we have to pay attention to some of its
characteristics. The first aspect we find is TASTE, we take something
for eating and we always think about how it tastes. In this case there
are few words to define this feature. For instance:
- Delicious. The typical word we use when we like something so much. Ex: this sauce is delicious, you have to give me the recipe.
- Rich. This term is used when we have lot of ingredients in the meal and we can taste all of them. Ex: the salad is very rich, the mixture of those ingredients makes it very savory.
- Dull. This word contrast with the first one of our list. We talk about dullness when something has any taste. Ex: "water is dull, it has no taste." Another word related to this one is BLAND. It has the same meaning. They are synonyms.
- Hot. Something is hot when it tastes spicy. It is typical when we eat some kinds of sauces. Ex: Mexican food is known to be very hot. Tabasco is one of the most famous hot species.
- Bitter. Having or being a taste that is sharp, acrid, and unpleasant. Another term which can be consider as a synonym is sour. Ex: Lemons have a bitter taste.
According to the SMELL we find terms as:
- Appetizing. A meal that look well and with just a glance you want to try it. Ex: this salad look appetizing?
- Off/bad: when food smell bad, it has not a fresh smell. Ex: the steaks that are in the fridge do really smeel off.
- Fruity: it is tasting of fruits.
When talk about food, we also talk about the colour it has. Some meals seems to be colorful when its ingredients have different colors. But when we talk about colour, we also talk about decoration. A plate should be decorated to impress people and encourage them to eat.
Another term referred to food is TEXTURE, and some example words are:
- Crunchy. This type of food makes a crispy sound in your mouth. Ex: That bar of bread seems to be crunchy just out of the oven.
- Creamy.resembling cream in colour, taste, or consistency.
The
last thing to talk about food in this entry is TEMPERATURE. It could be
something obvious, something is HOT or it is COLD, but here other terms
to define the temperature of food. These are:
- Warm. When the food is not hot but it is neither cold.
- Sizzling. It is when the temperature of the meal is very very hot.
- Chilly. When the temperature of the meal is very very cold.
These
have been the most important features we have to bear in mind when we
talk about food. But there are also two other terms related to food thT
are also important:
- ORGANIC FOOD. FOOD THAT DOES NOT GREW UP WITH CHEMICAL PRODUCTS. THAT FOOD COMES FROM ANIMALS OR VEGETABLES THAT GREW NATURALLY.
- GENETICALLY-MODIFIED FOOD. IT IS JUST THE OPPOSITE TO THE OTHER TERM EXPLAIN BEFORE. FOOD IS MODIFIED BY CHEMICAL PRODUCTS IN ORDER TO GET BIGGER AND MORE SAVORY FOOD.
